Can America Survive an Obama Nation?

On February 10, 2007, Sen. Barack Hussein Obama (D-Ill.) entered the race for the White House. Obama, a freshman senator and rising party star, officially announced his candidacy after forming an exploratory committee to begin raising money and hiring staff to campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination to succeed Republican President George W. Bush.

Obama, who gave the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic convention before he was elected to the U.S. Senate, recently appeared on a Time magazine cover and drew big crowds while campaigning for Democrats in 2006. Obama has stoked enthusiasm among Democrats looking for a fresh alternative to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who some fear could be too polarizing to win a general election campaign against a Republican in 2008.

Sen. Obama has promised to "change our politics" with a campaign that could make him the first African American president in U.S. history. The question is: “What kind of ‘change’ would America experience if Obama were elected president?”

Public School Argues in Court it is Mandated to Provide Pro-Gay Ed and Parents Have No Right to Object

By John-Henry Westen

LEXINGTON, MA, February 15, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At a hearing last week, Lexington public school officials argued in court that public schools have a mandate to teach positively about homosexuality and that parents have no right to have their children exempted from such instruction. A parent's only option is to withdraw their children completely from public school, lawyers argued.
The hearing was an attempt by the city and school system to dismiss a lawsuit brought by David and Tonia Parker, and Rob and Robin Wirthlin. The couples are suing the town and its public school system after their children were given books normalizing homosexual families. Attempts to reach a compromise with the school failed after officials refused to agree to the parents request that their young children be exempted from homosexual material and discussions in the classroom.
The parents decided on a lawsuit after a homosexual fairy tale, "King & King," was read to the Wirthlin's seven-year-old son in class. In the story, a prince turns away one beautiful princess after another until finally falling in love with another prince. The princes' marry, kiss, and live happily ever after. The story was read as part of a class on weddings. Dozens of people - parents' rights supporters of the Parkers and Wirthlins, braved the freezing temperatures outside the Joseph Moakley Federal Courthouse in South Boston for the hearing to show their support.
Mass Resistance, a group which supports parents rights in the state, reports that Lexington school officials argued in court that schools have a "legitimate state interest" - in fact a mandate - to teach what they call "diversity", which includes normalizing same-sex romantic relationships in the minds of elementary school children. The state must fight "discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation" in ways that "do not perpetuate stereotypes," the lawyers argued.
The school brought up various Massachusetts Department of Education curriculum frameworks as well as the assertion that same-sex marriage is "legal" in Massachusetts.
Brian Camenker of Mass Resistance explained that the second major point argued by the school representatives was that parents have no right to control what ideas the schools present to children, even elementary school children. Parents' only legitimate option, the lawyers for the school system argued, is to take their children out of the public school system.
"Once I have elected to send my child to public school, my fundamental right does not allow me to direct what my child is exposed to in the public school," the lawyer said.
In response, one of Parkers' lawyers, Robert Sinsheimer, attacked what he termed "the vulgar ultimatum" to simply "remove yourself and go somewhere else" if you don't like this action by the school system. What the school system calls "diversity training" he said was "indoctrination."
"Parents have the right to direct the moral upbringing of their children," he stressed.
Camenker told LifeSiteNews.com that a ruling is expected from Judge Mark Wolf in about three weeks.

Government gets another extension in Michael New case

(Washington) - The Supreme Court has granted the Justice Department a new extension, that they may be prepared to file their brief in the case of former Army Specialist Michael New. This is the government's second request for an extension of time. According to Daniel New, Project Manager for the Michael New Legal Defense Fund, "It's easy to see why the government is unprepared. They've spent eleven years treating this case with contempt and arrogance. Now, for the first time, they have suddenly realized they are going to have to produce some serious legal work in order to defend the total abuse of justice that they have practiced for over a decade."
At issue in this court is the Standard of Review, along with the twin issue of Due Process.
Spc. New was court-martialed in 1996, and was denied permission to introduce evidence in his own defence that would have proven that the United Nations uniform that he was ordered to wear was unauthorized; that the chain of command under a Finnish general officer was unconstitutional; and that the deployment itself to Macedonia was illegal.
The Army merely ruled that "evidence is not a fundamental element of the defence." That decision was upheld by the Army Court of Criminal Appeals, and by the Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces. Not being allowed to present evidence in his own defence, and acting with orders of the judge, the panel (jury) found him guilty in fifteen minutes. It has not been so easy to make him go away since that time.
The brief filed by Michael New's attorneys can be found here. The amicus curiae ("friend of the court") brief filed by the National Institute of Military Justice in support of Michael New may be found here .

Federal lawsuit could impact 19,000 Michigan foster children

February 14, 2007
By JACK KRESNAK
FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER
A federal judge in Detroit today certified a lawsuit brought against the state of Michigan by a New York-based children's rights organization as a class action with the potential to impact the lives of nearly 19,000 foster children.
U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds said, after reviewing written briefs and verbal arguments from lawyers for the advocacy group Children's Rights and the state Attorney General's Office, that she would issue a written order in about a week, certifying the case as a class action.
The lawsuit seeks to force the state Department of Human Services to adequately provide for the safety, well-being and permanency of foster children. Children's Rights, which has successfully sued other states and counties over foster care problems, argues that Michigan's foster care system routinely violates the constitutional rights of foster children by denying them adequate services such as finding permanent adoptive homes.

Hideous…

2/15/07
post/comment

The "new" George Washington $1 piece is now available. President George Washington was born on Feb. 22, 1732. Images of the other Presidents will be presented later.

"I can not tell a lie," (GW), these dollar coins are hideous because:

1. They appear so cheaply crafted-lacking artistic skill- with a mean-face image of the President when a Gilbert Stuart image would be great.

2. "In God We Trust", the national motto, is unreadable without a magnifying glass on the smooth/non-ridged edge of the coin.

3. "E Pluribus Unioin" (One out of Many) is also unreadable on the edge of the coin.

4. A small rim around the obverse side (front) of the coin I think was to make it easier for the blind to identify it from the present 25 cent piece which is only slightly smaller than the new $1 coin.

5. The coin appears slightly copper- tinted making it only a wee different than the present 25cent piece.

6. Again, it will be easily mistaken for the discredited earlier $1 coin pieces..

The American culture in all areas is so dumbed down.

spectacles, for I have not only grown grey, but almost blind, in the
service of my country."

The Anna Nicole Smith News

By Wayne Harris

The instant death of Anna Nicole Smith captured the interest of news people around the world. When someone young and beautiful dies, they run the story over and over. Others die and about the only thing they get is a small obituary in the newspaper.

The world system craves sensational stories. They have gawked over Marilyn Monroe’s mysterious death for years. They will gawk over Anna Nicole Smith’s for years, too.

It just seems like the other day that I was writing about Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. He, too, surprised everyone by his sudden death. This young, energetic fellow hit the headlines when a stingray struck him in the heart.

Until the autopsy is in nobody will definitively know what happened to Anna Nicole Smith. Rumors are already flying in every direction. Gossip columns are having a field day.

But who was Anna Nicole Smith without all of the hype? She was a God-created human being. She was the clay.

What was the Potter, our Lord God, desirous of creating when he breathed the breath of life into her? Did she live a life of godly purpose? Or, like so many, did she live it her way? What did she believe?

We only have one chance to get it right. Did she use that chance? Or, like so many, did she waste that chance?

Life is delicate. The flame at the tip of the candle is burning brightly one day. Then, a swift wind blows, and the candle tip is nothing but smoke wafting upward.

A young soldier sat beside me in a meeting. He smiled, shook my hand and asked me how I was doing. In less than a week I was standing at the hospital door waiting for the ambulance to pull up. I watched the body of that young soldier as they pushed him through the door. He had gotten drunk at a party. A buddy gave him the car keys. Somewhere around 100 miles per hour he hit a telephone pole head on. It was instant death.

It took awhile to stop thinking about the young man nearly every day. Wondering where someone went after sudden death can bug the daylights out of you. I always want the person to go to heaven.

Someone joked that Anna Nicole Smith was probably in heaven with Elvis Presley. What do you think? Do you believe that a promiscuous woman like Smith went to heaven? With repentance and faith in Jesus Christ all of her sins could have been forgiven. Were they? Only God knows.

Anyone can repent and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. A thief on the cross beside Jesus called upon Him as death knocked on his door. Many who have done wicked, sinful things have repented and turned to Jesus for saving grace.

The soldiers speak of foxhole conversions. Shells burst in the air, bullets skip across the ground and the soldier repents from the inside of a foxhole. “Lord Jesus, save me,” he cries.

Some have deathbed conversions. “Save me from my sins,” says the woman who has lived a life of sin. In the final moments, just before her soul departs, Jesus washes her white as snow with forgiving grace.

Did Anna Nicole Smith call out to Jesus? I hope so. My goal is to reach as many as possible with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray that none die and spend eternity separated from God.

Unfortunately, the multitude will miss heaven. Many will go the way of total destruction. They will know and reject the Good News of Jesus Christ. With salvation right at their door they will refuse to open the door to the One with the power and authority to save. What a dreadful decision.

Many beautiful young people go to hell. Looks that created opportunities on earth will do nothing for them in the flames to come. Fame and fortune are meaningless in the flaming inferno. On Judgment Day God will evaluate the great and the small.

Do you have Jesus as your Savior? If not, what are you waiting for? Don’t die waiting. Reach for Jesus.

Editor’s Note:

Dear Friends,

As Christians we walk by faith, and even though it may appear that the wicked have the upper hand, we know in reality that they do not. Our strength is in the joy of the LORD, so let us not become weary in doing good, but let us continue to resist and push back the evil works of darkness.

Here is an excerpt from an extremely encouraging article written by Jay Rogers on God’s Law to cap off this week’s edition of Christian Heritage News.

What is Theonomy?

By Jay Rogers

Theonomy means literally, "God's law," or the belief that the moral laws of the Old Testament are still binding today. This idea states that only Old Testament laws specifically fulfilled in the New Testament are non-binding (such as sacrificial laws, ceremonial laws and dietary laws). The moral Law of God is still the ethical standard for governing individuals and society.

In discussing theonomy, we should first explain clearly what we are not talking about. We are not talking about salvation, but merely government of individuals in society. Salvation cannot come through the Law, but only by grace through faith. A Christian is not under the Law as a means of obtaining salvation; nor are we under the curse of the Law since we were justified by faith. Yet when modern evangelicals claim, "I'm not under the Law," what they often mean is that they are not in favor of it or they are not keeping it. Such a view is called: antinomianism (anti-Law) -- a heresy.

We should next distinguish between justification and sanctification. It is grace alone through faith alone which is the means of our justification and our sanctification. But the moral Law of God remains the measure of sanctification for the believer. Thus, grace is not merely a "covering for our individual acts of sin" but it is "power over all sin."

The moral Law of God, when codified as a basis for civil law, restrains the passion of the sinner (i.e., capital punishment is a deterent to violent crime). It also acts as a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. Knowledge of the moral Law of God brings individuals knowledge of sin. Then more may be converted through faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. How can we be saved unless we first know that we are sinners?
