UNDERSTANDING TRUMP’S POLITICAL SUCCESS

Image
By Pastor Shawn Mathis - Posted at Barbwire:

What is the source of the Trump phenomenon? What combination of forces have created this seemingly perfect political storm?

There are a number of theories. And some of them are quite reasonable. But I think it is not any one thing that has contributed to his success.

I think five factors in particular have coalesced in God’s providence to bring the Republican party to Trump: political, national, economical, cultural and religious factors.

1. The political dimension everyone gets. The Establishment (in both parties) are more despised than ever. Republicans-in-name-only (RINOs) have been playing patty-cake with liberals for many years.

And the establishment has been offering subpar presidential candidates. The establishment needlessly compromised over and over again with Obama. Although there has been a long-running anti-establishment contingency in the party, seven years of Obama has brought it to a fever pitch.

The Laodicean Church

(Revelation 3:14-16 NASB) All Christians should study the Old Testament book of Jeremiah. Why? Jeremiah was a prophet of God. What he was called to do was be the prophet to warn of God’s coming judgment to apostate Judah. They were still very religious. They still offered their sacrifices and held their festivals, but they also mixed in worship of other “gods” that called for the sacrifice of their own children. Jeremiah was threatened. He was beaten by the priests and told to shut up. He was put into stocks. When the Babylonians did come and fulfill the judgment he had prophesied, he was still despised by the aposta…

WHAT WAS THE JESUS SEMINAR? SHOULD ANYONE HAVE TAKEN THEM SERIOUSLY?

A friend of mine was asking me about the “Jesus Seminar”, which is a group of people who claim to be able to speak for broad spectrum of scholars about who Jesus really was. She was telling me that someone’s child went to college, heard about the Jesus Seminar, and lost their faith because of their writings. I wanted to find a good article for her on this, and since Dr. William Lane Craig has debated most of the leading scholars in the Jesus seminar, (e.g. – John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, Roy Hoover, Gerd Ludemann, Robert Price, John Shelby Spong, etc.), I chose an article by Dr. Craig. I also link to two debates that Dr. Craig did with Jesus Seminar people below.

Why Islamic State’s Ancient Jihadi Tactics “Shock” the West

Image
By Raymond Ibrahim

As Western politicians and other talking heads insist that the Islamic State (“ISIS”) has “nothing whatsoever to do with Islam,” not only does ISIS correctly implement Islamic law—whether by demanding jizya from subjugated Christians or by sexually enslaving “infidel” women—but even the “caliphate’s” arcane jihadi tactics belong to Islam.

Consider a recently exposed “recruitment” tactic of ISIS: abducting, indoctrinating, and beating young children in order to mold them into explosive-vest wearing “martyrs” who hurl themselves onto “infidels”:
The children who managed to escape describe how they were indoctrinated into the jihadi group’s radical brand of Islam and taught that they should execute their “unbeliever” [infidel] parents…. “We weren’t allowed to cry but I would think about my mother, think about her worrying about me and I’d try and cry quietly,” he [an escapee] said… Some children who managed to escape ISIS and are now living in the refugee camps in nor…

The “Natural Born Citizen” Issue Explained
It’s not a court issue—the Founders defined it—we’ve just forgotten.

WHITE PAPER
February 24, 2016
Can just anyone be elected President of the United States? No, of course not. Foreigners for example are not eligible. The Constitution spells out the eligibility standards:
Article II, Section 1: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.” As you can see, Article II distinguishes between Citizens and natural born Citizens. Although we know the Founding Fathers used language with extreme care, this is now raising a ruckus. I’m a researcher, I’ve done the legwork, so let me set the record straight. The answers w…

Risen: Movies, Faith, and the Bible

There's an old saying you're probably familiar with: “All that glitters is not gold.” It's an idiomatic reminder that appearances are not everything and often do not reveal the true nature of a thing. To be honest, that's often how I feel when Hollywood tries to put the Bible on the silver screen. It may glitter but it certainly isn't gold! Recent adaptations—actually, it's probably more accurate to say recent rewrites—like that of Noah and Exodus: Gods and Kings, are a painful reminder of that. Not only have they been box office flops but they have failed entirely in biblical accuracy. Despite the repeated failures of Hollywood I will admit my interest was piqued with headlines of the recently released movie, Risen.

As an unofficial sequel to Mel Gibson's blockbuster The Passion of the Christ, this recent release looks at the story of the resurrection from the perspective of a skeptic. Like a detective mystery set…

False prophets and their destructive heresies

False professors and false prophets have one thing in common. They are convinced that the ‘religious paradigm’ they love, cherish, follow, and proclaim is true. Of course, they come to this conclusion through what some of them refer to as their ‘thinkology.’ In other words, what makes it true in their hearts is their own acceptance of it. The deciding or defining standard, which is used by these people, is their own value system. They oppose clear Biblical truth because “they just don’t believe it” while they embrace humanistic forms of Christianity simply because their ‘thinkology ‘ gives them a green light.

He didn’t bother to notify kirkers before he “urged” Judge Stegner to go easy on Sitler and he didn’t think the Kirk worthy of notice before he blame-shifted Jamin Wight’s horrible crimes onto Natalie’s father.

He’s always been able to control these things by pulling the trigger on one family or another. But this time it’s different. He has so many open wounds that he’s lost count of those who have left and, more importantly, he no longer knows what they’re saying after they go. This is a problem because normally he thinks that if he can’t completely silence them, then he can rebut their arguments to keep them from persuading you. But now he’s in the dark. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio Campaigns Employ Gay Marriage Supporters

By Samuel Smith - Posted at CP Politics:

The campaigns of Republican presidential candidates Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are employing Republicans who signed onto a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court last year arguing that state bans against same-sex marriage are unconstitutional.

In the lead up to last June's Obergefell v. Hodges ruling that struck down state bans against same-sex marriage, a group of over 300 Republicans representing various conservative, moderate and libertarian viewpoints signed onto an amicus brief supporting Jim Obergefell and the rest of the petitioners.

Among the hundreds of people who signed that particular brief are two individuals who are actively involved in the presidential campaigns of Rubio and Cruz, candidates who both have stated that they disagree with the Supreme Court's decision and that the decision is not the "settled" law of the land.

‘Pastor Protection Act’ Unanimously Passes Georgia House

H.B. 757 was introduced last summer by Rep. Kevin Tanner, R-Dawsonville, and found support from Democrats and Republicans alike.

“No minister of the gospel or cleric or religious practitioner ordained or authorized to solemnize marriages, perform rites, or administer sacraments according to the usages of the denomination, when acting in his or her official religious capacity, shall be required to solemnize any marriage, perform any rite or administer any sacrament in violation of his or her right to free exercise of religion under the Constitution of this state or the United States,” the bill reads in part.

In addition to churches, the bill also applies to religious schools, missionary societies and denominational conventions.

Ted Cruz: Constitutionally Qualified to Be President?

By Joe Wolverton II, J.D. - Posted at The New American:

Every day since his announcement that he would run for president, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has faced questions about his constitutional qualification to hold that office, particularly in regard to the “natural born citizen” clause of Article II.

Although the issue appears nearly daily on some blog or in some online article, it is not a new question. In fact, over two years ago — when Cruz was a newly elected senator — The New American carried an article by this reporter analyzing the constitutional considerations of this now very relevant problem.

Is it, in fact, a problem? For Cruz, the short answer is yes. For two reasons. First, because he does not fit the Founders’ definition of a natural born citizen; and second, because for a man who claims to hold the Founders and the Constitution in such high regard, it would appear self-serving and hypocritical to ignore both of those sources and seek the presidency anyway.

In the Valley with Facebook

The need for a firm foundation (Scripture) is vital to the Christian  - new and old alike!
"And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them." Mark 9:2 KJV
Years ago while working outside the home, I began my day with a devotional, Scripture reading and prayer. I compared this time spent as being on the "mountain" with the Lord before descending into the "valley" of the workplace which was full of profanity, materialism and envy.

For the past few years, I have been  deactivating my Facebook account periodically due to various reasons. Sometimes I would find I just didn't have the time to spend communicating in a semi-meaningful way with others or I would read of the Facebook founders supporting a pro-abortion or same-sex marriage agenda and felt my participation in their platform was helping to support it. How Facebook Envy Fuels Donald Trump

Image
By Tom Nichols - Posted at The Federalist:

Never before have so many historically well-off people felt themselves so economically deprived.

I blame a lot of people for Donald Trump. (Mostly, I blame Donald Trump.) “Trumpism,” insofar as we can call it a movement, is the product of many social forces. Some of the anger that propels Trump is a reaction to political correctness and elitist condescension; some an irrational, even racist, fear of changing demographics; some understandable rage at the painful and disparate impact of globalization. And some of it is just the lousy luck that 16 other Republicans, including a batch of no-hopers, all decided to run when Trump did.

But look past Trump’s public monkeyshines, and find one emotion that especially motivates his supporters: envy. Or, to use a more evocative French term, it is ressentiment, the need to blame others for one’s own frustration and circumstances.

What Justice Scalia’s Death Reveals About Our Country

Image
Posted at Your Mom Has A Blog:
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died on Saturday. In no time at all, the world took to Twitter as it always does, because everyone feels the need these days to express every thought they have about every single thing. Despite the fact that Scalia was a real man with an actual family, cruel comments immediately filled social media from those who disagreed with his opinions and beliefs. They claimed that they were happy he was dead, that he will burn in hell now, and that there are other conservatives who need to follow him there.

When something like this happens, it’s telling about where we are in this country, morally and spiritually.

1. We are hard.

Social media has had a huge hand in making us cold and mean in our ways of dealing with one another. It’s so easy to look at a computer screen and fire off something that will irreparably damage a family, a relationship, a sense of worth. We are rude and have no respect for each other in any way. A cursory reading of Paul’s teaching about government from Romans 13 might leave the impression that whatever government demands of its people, they must be ready to perform. Some might believe Paul to be saying that we must obey whatever government tells us to do, and not resist its authority.

But that would be to misunderstand Paul’s view of government as a servant of God for good. As Paul himself demonstrated, and as Scripture teaches throughout, any government that goes beyond what God authorizes, or which ignores His good and perfect will,…

Scalia, appointed in 1986 by then-President Ronald Reagan, was the longest-serving justice on the current Supreme Court. “I am saddened to report that our colleague Justice Antonin Scalia has passed away,” Chief Justice John Roberts said in a statement. “He was an extraordinary individual and jurist, admired and treasured by his colleagues. New Life for a Sinner

By Angela Wittman

This winter season is proving to be a time of reflection and while I understand the need to occasionally take stock of one's life and review the past, the time spent before I became a follower of Christ holds regret.

As a mother I fondly remember my sons as little boys who would pick their mommy dandelions and proclaim they wanted to marry someone like me. But, even those memories are tinged with regret as I didn't raise my sons in church, nor did I teach them about Jesus Christ. So, for me the past is bittersweet and yet, I see the good Lord's grace and care of me and my loved ones even when I did not know Him.

I can remember wanting to pray, but not knowing how to or if the Lord would hear my prayers. I had been baptized as a teenager, but fell away from the church and didn't understand how I could be forgiven of my sins. I thought I needed to "clean myself up" before I could even attend church, much less become a Christian! I felt I was doom…

Feds Seek Home Visits, Calling Parents "Equal Partners"

Big Brother wants to be an “equal partner” with American parents in the raising of their own children, starting before they are even born. He wants to send his agents to your house for “home visits,” too. Believe it or not, two powerful arms of Obama administration, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), explicitly say so themselves.

In a draft policy statement on “family engagement,” the two unconstitutional bureaucracies openly state their joint position: families are “equal partners” in everything from children's “development” and “education” to their “wellness across all settings.” Virtually no area of family life, including the health and “mental health” of parents, as well as a family's “attitudes” and even its “housing,” would be free from government intrusion under the government's Orwellian vision. Even vague notions of “family wellness,” as defined by bureaucrats in W…

THE IRONY OF BANNING GOD FROM THE PUBLIC SQUARE

Last week I wrote a column noting that the Bible is being unconstitutionally banned in the public schools far too often—and even being treated like asbestos, to borrow a line from Christian attorney Jordan Lorence.

A reader responded to that article negatively, raising a common objection that the founders supposedly intended a secular government, one that was free from biblical influence.

He wrote, “Once you see that ideas and our capacity for reason are the most important tools we possess, maybe you will understand that the Bible is like ‘Asbestos’ in the public school.”

These types of claims, that the founders intended to banish God from the public square, are made frequently enough that they serve some further analysis. These claims are ironic, since the founders said our rights come from the Creator.

Why Basing Morality on Empathy Does Not Work

Atheists are Good Without God!

An Atheist announced on an internet discussion board, “Atheists are good without God!” It was not the first time I had heard it. Over the past twelve years, on the many atheist forums I had visited, the atheists and even some professing “Christians” had made this claim. To support their assertion, they posted a few “studies” that showed how atheist ethics (devised from their own empty non-belief system) were superior. Atheists had lesser numbers in prison, they claimed, a lower divorce rate, less crime in secular countries, and better raised children because they taught their children (the atheist ethics of) tolerance (which excluded Christians), anti-racism and the “Golden Rule” or empathy. Empathy, they avowed, was the best guide for morality. Empathy, in fact, would create the Utopia the world has, since the Garden of Eden, yearned after for so long. This godless form of morality was purportedly superior to all notions of …

The Fear of Man Versus the Fear of God

Image
Posted at Green Baggins:

Most Christians have probably heard something about the fear of man and the fear of God. However, many Christians fail to see when they do not have the proper perspective on what they do. The fear of man is insidious, creepy, and sneaky. It can disguise itself in many ways, and people rationalize it in many ways. Carl Trueman has talked about one form of it in terms of conferences: only the best-known names get invited, and they get invited again, and again, and again. Why is this? Is it simple marketeering? Or is there a fear of man involved, in the sense that organizers think that only well-known names will be convincing. Where did the Holy Spirit go, I wonder?

Reasonably mature Christians will know that the fear of God, being the beginning of wisdom, constitutes a proper awe and reverence for the Lord God. However, what even mature Christians often forget is that the fear of man and the fear of God are on a teeter-totter. Austrian economics helps explain ho…

Why write a post addressing the issue of sins as reasons why people leave church

The stories I read from David Kinnaman in “You Lost Me” suggest that the top reasons an entire generation of young people are leaving the church are only tangentially sin-related: (1) overprotective – make one mistake and you’re no longer perfect (2) shallow – nothing ever goes deep (3) anti-science – the church isn’t interest in the truth that agrees with the facts (4) repressive – the church isn’t capable of dealing with the reality of the world (5) exclusive – the “if you’re not with us you’re against us” mindset (6) doubtless – if one comes to question anything then it’s viewed as faithlessness so there’s no middle ground.  Sin is little more than a red herring at this point – focus o…

Marxism and the Bureau of Land Management

In that infamous document The Communist Manifesto, which the League of the Just (Illuminati) hired deadbeat revolutionary Karl Marx to pen, Marx noted, quite accurately, that: “In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in a single sentence: Abolition of private property.” In other words, if Marxists of any stripe influence and eventually rule your country–you own nothing. Rather, they own you. Any land you may have thought you owned now belongs to “the People” which, being interpreted, means the State.

It is in that context that you need to begin to look at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as an instrument of the Marxist state that has as its agenda the appropriation of any and all land. You may even have a deed “proving” ownership which, to them, is irrelevant. Your deed is really worthless because they have the power to move you off of your land and in a Marxist state such as we now exist in, any and all means to do…

Homeschooling and Public School Partnership Programs

For many homeschoolers, August represents a time of final planning for the upcoming academic year. In doing so, wise parents naturally ask themselves if they are employing the most effective methods of instruction possible. While some parents are content with implementing only minor adjustments to their routines, other parents are desperate for solutions for the various challenges they perceive. It is not surprising, then, to witness a growing number of homeschoolers joining the various “partnership” programs offered by the public school system.

There are a number of reasons why public school partnerships generally represent less-than-ideal approaches for most homeschoolers. Before we discuss some of these reasons, it may be useful to review the historical context in which these partnerships have emerged. While doing so, I’ll occasionally share certain firsthand experiences to help illustrate the shortcomings of these approaches.

This is why Christianity is on the ropes

He points out that Satanic deception has become so rampant in our churches that, in their confusion, Christians often use arguments that usually come from atheists and sexual libertines, such as “love is all that matters; God looks at the heart; we don’t need lists of rules, etc, etc.”

Discover why these arguments are decidedly unbiblical — and what the Bible explicitly teaches on sex outside of marriage:

There most certainly is such a thing as sin, such a thing as Satan and such a thing as deception. These three run together, resulting in incredible damage – spiritually and in other ways. Of course in the world people are under the complete control of Satan, sin is a way of life, and deception is everywhere.…

Ted Cruz Presidential Candidate: Is he really pro-life?

American Right to Life Ted Cruz
Presidential Candidate
Tier 3 - Personhood Later

As a Republican primary candidate, Ted Cruz has taken contradictory positions on abortion and it is sobering to realize that his effort to get votes from the Republican base could explain this behavior.

Congressional Report Examines Cruz's Natural-born Citizen Status

By Joe Wolverton, II, J.D. - Posted at The New American:
"At the center of the so-called birther question is Article II’s declaration that 'No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.'" Published February 1, 2016

As Donald Trump’s presidential campaign continues to crescendo, his questions regarding the constitutional qualification of Senator Ted Cruz (shown) to be president are being taken seriously by scholars and the answers aren’t as clear as Cruz claims.

On January 25, Yahoo News reported that the latest “Congressional Research Service report is adding some new background on the controversy over U.S. presidential candidates like Ted Cruz who were born overseas and who are seeking office.”

Cruz was born in Alberta, Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother.

Ted Cruz does not support "Personhood" Legislation for the Preborn

Image
Editor's Note: I just received this link from Steve Lefemine (Christians for Personhood) to a video regarding Ted Cruz's lack of support for Personhood Legislation:

Question on Personhood legislation ( at 10:50 into YouTube video below):

[ commentary added in brackets [ ] ]

Ted Cruz: "I believe we should protect every human life, from the moment of conception to the moment of death. [ ? ] I have not supported personhood legislation because I think, and the pro-life community is divided on this, but I think personhood legislation can be counterproductive because it focuses on issues that are unrelated to protecting unborn children [ sic ], and I think our focus should be valuing and cherishing every human life."

The Beck Lies: Mormon Leads Prayer to False God at Ted Cruz Campaign Office

Posted at Berean Research:

Over at Pulpit & Pen, Seth Dunn informs us that Ted Cruz is surrounded by cultists, knows it, and it doesn’t seem to bother him. To be fair, to get elected, political candidates need financial support and people’s votes. To that end, Marco Rubio, a Roman Catholic, has stated that he “fully understands Catholic doctrine” yet he would have people believe he’s an evangelical. And Donald Trump states that he’s a “Presbyterian Protestant,” that he believes in God but has never asked for forgiveness. Since the sincere Christian understands sin, repentance and forgiveness, Dunn wonders if The Donald is a true a Christian.

But this is not about Rubio and Trump; it’s about Southern Baptist presidential candidate Ted Cruz praying with a cultist. Seth Dunn begins with the following quote:

I have prayed for the next George Washington. I believe I have found him (in Ted Cruz).Glenn Beck

Like the Blind Leading the Blind: Donald Trump and Evangelicals

Image
By Peter T. Elliott

This morning, like most mornings now, I found myself reading an article on Donald Trump’s candidacy. Everyday I ask myself the question, “How can so many American Evangelicals support such an openly narcissistic, immoral, power driven man?” Sarah Palin endorsed him, Jerry Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, endorsed him,[1] and not too long ago, a poll was released that showed that Evangelical Christians as a whole are gravitating to Trump.[2]
But, this article I read today gave me a much needed answer as to why Americans and specifically Evangelicals are gravitating toward Donald Trump. The author, Gina Dalfonzo, asserted, and rightfully so, that when fear is driving a certain people group, they will seek safety and power in the wrong places. The author then went on to make the connection that the American people, specifically anti-establishment republicans, are putting their faith in Donald Trump, because he projects an unwavering, albeit narcissist…
